Carbonara is one of those things that nobody hates. It’s one of the most popular pasta dishes in the world. This Italian dish, which originated in Rome in the 20th century, is made with eggs, cheese (usually parmesan or pecorino Romano), pancetta (bacon), and black pepper.
The pork is cooked in olive oil or butter. For the pasta, you can use any of the following: spaghetti, fettucine, linguine, rigatoni and bucatini. Poured over the hot pasta is a mixture of cheese, fat, and raw eggs. After that, you top it with crispy bacon. You don’t put it in direct heat so as not to coagulate the eggs. Here’s one delicious variation of carbonara that includes chicken and garlic.
