Croissants can get any better than this. Oh, that flaky crust that’s melt-in-your-mouth good, and the amazing aroma that sits between buttery and creamy. This recipe would make you feel as if you’re right in the heart of Paris, enjoying a cup of coffee with your delicious croissant.

But what makes this flaky bread taste even better is the addition of fried egg and grated gruyere. Gruyere may not be as popular as cheddar, pepper Jack or those other cheeses that you typically use in your cooking but for this particular recipe, there’s no better cheese to use than gruyere. Its nutty flavor certainly complements both the egg and the croissant.

It’s called Flammekuech in our gemrinac dialect or Tarte Flambe9e in French, it’s indeed delicious, and I’ll definitely be having some next week when I finaly go home to Strabourg (Alsace’s capital) to visit my parents ; I can’t wait !
