Fun Children Ideas for Rice and Curry

Getting children to eat healthy foods can sometimes be a big worry for parents.  It can be exhausting trying to think of new ways to introduce new foods to children’s diets and encourage them to enjoy healthy options.  However there is one easy and effective way to get children to enjoy healthy foods.  You need to get creative and make meals fun and interesting.

Curry and Rice Bath!

Look at this wonderful image of a children’s meal of curry and rice.  The rice has been formed into little people shapes and the curry is presented in a small bowl.  With the rice people sitting just half in the curry bowl it looks like someone taking a bath.  This will amuse kids and make them really interested in food.  Being creative with food is about engaging children’s minds as well as their stomachs.  Children will love fun food and be more likely to try new foods and eat more healthily if meals look fun.

Manufacturer’s Tricks

Food manufacturers use a number of tricks to entice children in eating their foods.  They use bright, attractive packaging, interesting shapes and bold colours that really get children interested.  Another key way to attract children is to use their favourite cartoon and movie characters as part of the packaging or food design.  You can also use these tricks to help encourage children to eat healthy, homemade food.

Fun with Rice Nests

Try preparing food in appealing shapes that children will recognise and respond too.  Rice is easy to shape for example, as we can see from the bath curry and rice creation.  You can let your imagination run free and create lovely meals that will look as good as they taste for your children.  Once they try the food and get a taste for it, they will be more likely to be interested in trying and enjoying healthier foods in the future. For example you could shape rice into little nests on the plate, and then spoon some curry into the nest.  Finish off with some tiny balls of rice shaped into miniature eggs.  This is an easy to prepare meal that will tantalise your little ones!
